Tuticorin Terminal awarded for its efficiency and operational performance

27 September 2019

On Friday September 27, Tuticorin Terminal has been awarded Container Terminal of the Year at the Maritime Gateway Awards Ceremony in Mumbai, India.

The Maritime Gateway Awards annually reward the best Indian maritime players. A total of 17 prizes are awarded, including the Container Terminal of the Year (below 600,000 TEUs category). This price which rewards a terminal for its efficiency and operational performance, was attributed to Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal Pvt Ltd (DBGT - Tuticorin Terminal).

Tuticorin Terminal, a subsidiary of Bolloré Ports, set new productivity records this year, especially in terms of unloading and dockside handling. Since January 2019, STS cranes have been making 32 movements per hour, thus reducing the ship’s turnaround and pre-berthing detention time.

Such a success would have not been possible without the confidence of the Tuticorin VOC Port Authorities, the unconditional support and loyalty of our customers as well as the determinant involvement of the staff on the ground

Ideally located on the way to the main East/West and Asia/Africa sea routes, the port of Tuticorin has always been one the country’s strategic port infrastructures and is aimed to become a major transshipment port.
